Hockey Hall of Fame
Experience the game that defines Canada and a sport that has been adopted by over 80 countries. Home of the Stanley Cup, the Hockey Hall of Fame has something for everyone: state-of-the-art games, interactive exhibits, larger-than-life statues, a replica dressing room and rink zone, theatres, an extraordinary gift shop, and hockey's most precious artifacts.
The Hockey Hall of Fame not only houses an extensive treasure trove of hockey artifacts and mementoes but also presents an innovative celebration of the best of hockey, including:
NHL Zone: Comprised of 6,000 square feet of new exhibits, this zone captures a dramatic slice of the world's premier hockey league. Two nine-foot tall "sentry" statues stand guard at the entrance to NHL Legends, a multimedia tribute to individuals distinguished as Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Members. Other highlights include NHL Retro (franchise histories, including now defunct teams like the Kansas City Scouts), NHL Today (showcasing the stars of today's NHL), NHL Milestones (exploring NHL records including Gretzky's all-time goal scoring record), and Stanley Cup Dynasties (including tributes to teams like the New York Islanders of the early eighties and the Edmonton Oilers of the late eighties).
NHLPA “Be A Player” Zone: Test your skills at Shoot Out and Shut Out, located in the zone’s 2,400-square-foot (223-square-meter) simulated rink. In Shoot Out, go one-on-one—using real pucks and stick—with a life-size, computer-simulated Eddie Belfour.
In Shut Out, play goalie against video images of hockey superstars firing weighted sponge pucks at speeds up to 70 mph (113 kph).
TSN/RDS Broadcast Zone: Choose from a menu of classic hockey games and call the action; clips range from NHL to international women’s hockey. Or try It’s Your Call, a video recording of your commentary on anything concerning the game. Your clip might even end up on TSN and HHOF.com!
MCI Great Hall: Delve into hockey history. You’ll find portraits and bios of members and a collection of NHL trophies that includes the Vezina, Hart, Calder, and, of course, the Stanley Cup. Get a picture of yourself with the Cup, and then be sure to check out Lord Stanley’s Vault, where the original Stanley Cup bowl—donated in 1892—resides.
